Title race heats up as Mafco pip Karonga 5-0: Malawi TNM Super League

Salima based military outfit Mafco FC has joined the 2016-17 Tnm Super League title race with a 5-0 thumping over struggling Karonga United.

Richard Mbulu was on arget twice while the other goals were scored Yohane Malunga, Joseph Dossa and Saidi Mtekama.

With the win, the soldiers have moved to third position of the log table with 22 points.

They equal on points with the much improved Kamuzu Barracks who on Saturday beat defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets 1-0 but Mafco has got a superior goal difference.

Mafco Team Manager David Gulaimfa has since challenged that  their intention is to finish the first round on top position as well as to win the title at the end of the season.

“Our aim is to win the title this season nothing else and we want to finish the first round on position one” said Gulaimfa after Sunday’s victory against Karonga.

Blue Eagles continue to lead the 16 member log table with 25 points followed by Silver Strikers who have manage to collect 23 points.

Kamuzu Barracks have squeezed themselves to position four while Moyale and Azam Tigers occupies positions five and six.

Defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets are on position 11 with 16 points while their traditional rivals Mighty Be Forward Wanderers seats on position 10 with 17 points.

Dwangwa United, Karonga United and Max Bullets are still in the relgation zone.

So far 222 goals have been scored in 95 matches played with Richard Mbulu of Mafco being the leading sniper with eight goals.
