Prophet backtracks, now says JB to remain Malawi President
A Malawi Prophet, who in 2013 claimed that a man from other regions in Malawi apart from the Southern Region will triumph during this year’s tripartite elections based on the prophecy he received that time, has changed tune.
Prophet Bentry Canaan Chiko Chawinga of the Mzuzu based Holy Nature Ministries is now saying God has told him that President Joyce Banda will rule for another five years.
“Generally speaking God designed men for leadership roles… but in this instance is allowing a woman to lead the nation,” Chawinga said.
But in his October, 2013 prophecy, Chawinga courted controversy when he said that God allowed Malawians to be led by a woman because of rampant vices such as homosexuality, massive corruption, prostitution, jealousy among others.
“The year 2014 will be tricky to Malawi as things must change for the better and it will take Malawians to cooperatively seek God’s intervention in prayer and fasting.
“Generally, speaking God designed men (kings) for leadership roles but only in some instances he does allow a woman to lead when there is too much wickedness in a country, “he claimed.
However, Chawinga backtracked during a news conference held at the Mimosa Court hotel in Mzuzu on Thursday saying “a woman who was not voted into power will rule for five years and it’s God who will vote her out of power”
Six plain clothes Police Officers from Mzuzu Police Station and the regional Headquarters also attended the conference uninvited and recorded the event.
“But the first three years will be of calamities and challenges and Malawians must brace for hard times. While the last two years of her reign will be of greatness and overflow,” Prophet Canaan said.

So far 16 presidential candidates are known to have shown interest to participate in the 2014 polls.
Chawinga the Holy Nature Ministries will next Month hold prayers nationwide to consolidate the prophecy.
“Trust God for change… Malawi must be a God fearing nation. She (Dr Banda) has been trusted by God to lead us out of our problems,” he said.
Mzuzu Police Station Publicist Sergeant Maurice Chapola failed to clarify the Cops presence at the press conference saying he needed to find out.
