Protests over ‘death of healthcare system’ held in Rumphi

Hundreds of people have marched in the northern region district of Rumphi to protest against the starvation of patients in Malawi’s public hospitals.

The peaceful protestors clad in black attire, organised by the district’s civil society network, blamed government for what they called “death of healthcare system.”

The protesters were also angry at what they say is reckless public spending by government while public hospitals suffer funding.

Civil society network chairperson Eunice Banda said the protestors want President Peter Mutharika to heed the cries of patients dying of hunger and lack of ambulances across the country.

They presented their petition to Francis Puleni, acting director at the district council, who said he will hand over to the President.

These are the days of survival of the fittest. Days of free lunches are over. There are plenty of drugs in private hospitals.

Reply to  Khima

typical quota reasoning by Khima @24.. You want these people to dig into their pockets to cover peter’s wastage and theft of our own taxes. these people are protesting against theft by DPP and you know that
