Rev Chimesya denies incest claims: CCAP Blantyre Synod electioneering goes dirty

Reverend Stanley Chimesya of CCAP Blantyre Synod has strongly denied allegations that he impregnated his biological daughter, saying the claims are just a ploy to destroy his image ahead of the Synod’s polls later this month.

The Synod’s leadership, according to him, is fabricating stories against him and his entire family following his stand against Synod’s General Secretary Alex Maulana’s candidacy.

Chimesya vehemently denied that her daughter, 19 year-old Eliza fell pregnant last year when she was at Michiru Private Seconday School in Blantyre and that instead of mentioning his father as responsible person, the daughter allegedly implicated the garden boy.

“These allegations are just aimed at damaging my image and also to frustrate my efforts to ensuring free and fair elections.

“Let me tell you, am not in good talking terms with the current Secretary General Alex Maulana and his team, he even threatened that he will deal with me just because I have been condemning his manipulative leadership,” explained Chimesya.

He also claimed that the Synod is divided and that Maulana’s team comprising Rev Innocent Brave Chikopa, Rev Harold Mbedza, Rev M. Jumbe, Rev A.I.J Juma, Rev C.R. Maganga and Rev  J.V. Muluwa, among others, are being used by the ruling DPP to fight him and other individuals who declared interest to contest against Maulana during the Biannual conference to be held from August 24 to 27 2015 at St Michaels and All Angels Multipurpose Hall in Blantyre.

Candidates that are challenging Rev Maulana are Rev Lazarus Kadango and Rev Paul Mawaya.

Nyasa Times also established that Chimesya’s daughter has never studied at Michiru Pvt School. She got pregnant when she was in form three at Nyambadwe Private School and she gave birth to a boy on August 31 2014. She is now studying at Blantyre Girls Night School and she will sit for Malawi Schools Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination next year.

“We have never employed a garden boy. Everyone here including our neighbors will tell you that we have never engaged a garden boy.

“So, I was deeply shocked when I learnt  of the allegation, but I certainly know that its the work of some pastors who teamed to fight me and are just determined to destroy my Prison Ministry,” said Chimesya, who is the Synod’s Prison Chaplain.

The Reverend’s daughter, Eliza told Nyasa Times in separate interview on Sunday that she was impregnated by Chimwemwe Chimangeni, a student at Polytechnic, constituent college of the University of Malawi.

“My parents learnt of my pregnancy through our neighbour. At that time, my dad was in Mwanza, so she phoned him to spill the beans,” she said, revealing that she never wanted to disgrace his father, hence the decision to conceal the pregnancy.

When contacted to verify the claims, Chimwemwe admitted to have had a secret love affair with the Pastor’s daughter and later cut ties with Eliza when he was told about the pregnancy.

“Am equally concerned because I have contributed to Pastor’s Chimesya’s predicament. If I had taken full responsibility of the child, I don’t think we could have all these nasty issues against the Chimesya family.

“The claims are also come a time when I was trying to reconcile with Eliza and her family. I did not deny, only that I was not ready to shoulder responsibility,” said Chimwemwe, a Ndirande resident.

Sources privy to the Synod’s ‘politics’ said Chimesya is being victimized for his stand for the truth and for confronting Maulana following reports he was detained at Mulanje Police station for “drink and drive” offence.
