The high-profile divorce hearing had been scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2026, but was adjourned due to network and communication difficulties between the two parties.

Court sources indicate the matter is expected to proceed virtually, given that one of the parties is currently outside the country.

A new hearing date is expected to be communicated to both Chakwera and Kampondeni in due course.

The precise reasons behind Tapiwa’s decision to file for divorce have not been disclosed in court, leaving much of the speculation surrounding the case unconfirmed.

However, unverified claims circulating on social media suggest the dispute may be connected to the ownership of properties allegedly acquired in several countries — though it must be stressed these claims have not been established or tested in court.

Separate allegations of infidelity and impropriety against Sean have also been circulating online, though these too remain unverified and unproven.

Given the prominence of the Chakwera family in Malawian public life, the case is likely to attract considerable scrutiny as it makes its way through the courts, though further details are expected only once the matter is next heard.
