Reverend Andrew Kamponda, the vice moderator of the CCAP Blantyre Synod says President Bingu wa Mutharika government has been contaminated with evil viruses which have been misleading the Head of State.
Kamponda was one of the delegates to a meeting organised by Public Affairs Committee (PAC), which called on Mutharika to resign within 60 days or call for a referendum on his leadership within three months.
Speaking on the ‘Sunday Round Table Discussion’ on Capital FM, Komponda classified the viruses as “atidyenawo opanda chochita [financial parasites].”
“You know when some people are manufacturing computers, others are busy producing viruses. Just in government, there are a lot of viruses which have surrounded the President and spoiling things,” said Kamponda.
“These people are busy misleading the president in order to buy favours,” said Kamponda.
Mutharika’s second term in office has seen growing discontent with his rule. Political tensions erupted into rioting in July, when police shot 19 people dead.
Several major donors cut their aid last year over concerns about the infringement of democratic freedoms, economic management and governance.
