Santa ‘Klaus’ Chilima cheers up patients on Christmas Box

When he first did it in 2018, the talk was that it was a political campaign stunt but the UTM Party president, Saulos Chilima has continued with the tradition as he turned Father Christmas and utilised the Boxing Day holiday to cheer patients.

When many political leaders spent a private Christmas unlike in 2018 campaign period, Chilima showed many who truly he is – politics or no politics when he visited Msipe Health Centre in Ntcheu.
The UTM president was clad in Father Christmas attire replete with a broad white artificial beard as he cheered the sick and presented various gifts at Msipe Health Centre in Ntcheu.

He was accompanied by his wife, Mary, who also wore matching seasonal red attire.
Meanwhile, taken by surprise both governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)  and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) supporters have started attacking him that this again is another stunt ahead of the court election case.
But one of the people close to Chilima said it is high time both DPP and MCP accepted that when it comes to political positioning and branding, they are many steps back.
“I can assure you that no one expected this. And here he comes when they were just to start attacking him.  He frustrates them, I guess.”
Besides family and friends, Chilima was also accompanied by UTM secretary general Patricia Kaliati and officials from the party.
On the election case, the immediate-past vice-president could not directly comment on the matter.

You mean an aspiring President like chilima with a bunch of his followers including the Youths and women cannot set up some or come with a project that is worth meaningful to at least in areas he got 4 MPs. FOR EXAMPLE like WHAT NAPOLEON DZOMBE, The INNOVATOR trying to have car that uses Solar that I saw on MBCTV etc.

  2. I hope what Chilim did was awesome idea for visiting petients with Christmas gift, we need kind of this guys who has good mind set to lead this country. Not this idiot we have right now, you call Peter mutharika. The other thing l see with this stupid people we call Cadets they don’t have time to think where they came from they are busy in towns wearing Brue shirts walking bear footed waiting for Mr Jerusalem man to give them 10.000. what you gonna do with 10. 000 nowadays?   10. What he did was perfectly right. I commend him to greater extent. The question is : did he do it as UTM Party President or as an individual Chilima? The presence of Kaliati obviously shows that he went there as president of UTM. “NO AFRICAN POLITICIAN GIVES CHARITY FOR NOTHING. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING WORTHWHILE”. Second question is; how did the media people know that he is going to Ntcheu Health Centre? Obviously they were told. Why telling them? Was it not just to show off to the public? Him as a believer, does the Bible encourage us to do that when giving Charity to poor people? What did Jesus Christ say pertaining to this? Finally , I commend him the kind gesture. Keep it up. Next time follow the principles given by our Lord Jesus Christ.

    1. Stunt or no stunt…..it’s such a good gesture what he did. When someone is ill or in such need how nice is it to have someone thinking of you with some gifts. It’s a good deed what Chilima did. Stinking santa suit or not. I hope you did some good deed too over Christmas.

  14. There is nothing wrong for what Chilima did, it’s only stupid people can complain about it! Chilima is only guy who can rule this country in good manner. MCP ruled this country and failed UDF ruled this country and failed end up they brought as this Rubbish party we call DPP and this Old Animal we call Peter Mutharika and he failed this country. Now it’s time for Chilima to take over this country as president wether DPP like and not.

  19. Good gesture by Saulos but the attire portrays as if Christmas belongs to the white guys and not us. This is one of the African problem we still are mentally colonised by the west can’t we have our on way of a counter African Santa Claus to that of a white guy with white beard etc. Christmas in our part of the world falls during this hot season so why punish oneself with all that stuff intended for the cold climate now prevelant in west Europe.
