Simplex Chithyola Banda: A Victim of Innocence
When you meet Simplex Chithyola Banda, you quickly realise that many of the things said about him are far from the truth. From a distance, he can be misunderstood. But up close, you see a man of humility, discipline, and integrity — a politician who chooses peace over provocation, and love over hate.

He is a man who loves everyone and harbours no grudges. Yet, ironically, he has become a victim of hate, envy, and propaganda. In a political environment often marred by insults and division, Chithyola Banda has stood out for practising clean politics. He doesn’t fight back, even when attacked. Ask him why, and he will simply say, “Life is too short to have enemies.”
As Member of Parliament for Kasungu South and former Minister of Finance, he remains calm, composed, and focused on real issues that affect ordinary Malawians. He believes in unity — captured perfectly in his message of One Malawi, One People, One Nation.
But his troubles began when he dared to contest in the MCP Convention, where he narrowly lost by just 141 votes. Instead of rebelling, he humbly accepted defeat and continued to support the party. Those close to him know his loyalty is unwavering. Former and current leaders alike describe him as respectful, disciplined, and dependable.
Still, his humility has not shielded him from political persecution. Week after week, his name surfaces in rumours and social media smears. Some have even ganged up to weaken his influence, funding competitors in his constituency to bring him down. But when the 2025 elections came, the “man they wanted to bury” rose even stronger, defeating all odds to return to Parliament.
Chithyola Banda’s victory was not just political — it was moral. It proved that truth and integrity still have a place in Malawi’s politics.
He continues to live simply, dedicating much of his time to farming and community development. But even now, the battles against him have not stopped — perhaps because clean politics threatens those who thrive on chaos and corruption.
Simplex Chithyola Banda remains a symbol of political tolerance, maturity, and faith in God. In a world where politics has become a war of words and hatred, he reminds us that leadership is about humility, not hostility.
It’s time Malawians recognised him for what he truly is — a victim of innocence and a champion of decency in politics.
