Phiri gets dummy cheque from Mphande.
Brand Marketing Manager for SkyBand  Chawanangwa Mphande said they are delighted to partner with ICTAM ahead of innovation forum.
She also disclosed that SkyBand will  provide free Internet access towards this years innovation forum.
“We realise the importance of ICT in Malawi and business. We believe it is very important in developing our economy.
We are very much looking forward to innovation forum. Nowadays innovation is the key to ICT and as an ISP (Internet Services Provider) which obviously is in the ICT sector. We believe in what Ictam is trying to do for ICT in Malawi. We can also confirm that we are also providing internet for the conference as well,” said Mphande.
ICTAM president Wisely Phiri said the donation was timely as it will help the association to host innovation forum.
“This donation will go a long way. We have a number of things which we need to have at the innovation forum and everything relies on money. So Skyband has come with K500,000 in terms of money value as well as coming up with internet. As you know at the conference we want people to get connected. We want people to post whatever they are seeing there,” he said.
Phiri added that preparations for the innovation forum are at an advanced stage.
“The preparations are going on well. In terms sponsors we have other sponsors that are international companies.
We have a number of innovators that have submitted their innovations as well as people that have registered to attend the conference,” he said.
Meanwhile, Africa’s Talking is providing this years winners with a platform that allows them to have their mobile applications access their SMS, USSD and mobile payment platform.
“This allows this years winners to go beyond just winning the awards but we would like to see them go a step ahead monetizing their ideas and push them into technology entrepreneurs,” he said.
