South dominates in Presidential Netball Cup, Eagles in last 4

Southern Region continues to dominate in netball, as out of four teams which progresses through into the semi-finals of 2012-2012 Presidential Netball Cup, only one from the central region managed to book their slot alongside three out-fits from the South.

Blue Eagles Sisters from the capital city of Malawi, Lilongwe is the only teams joining the likes of MTL Queens, Escom Sisters and Bingu Tigresses from the commercial city of Malawi, Blantyre.

Another capital city giant, Civonets were shown an exit-door in the quarter finals after losing 44-22 baskets to cup holders, Escom Sisters.

The Civil Servant assistant coach, White Mulili admitted after their ouster that Central region teams are streets away to reach at the level of their counterparts in the Southern region.

Mulili also conceded their defeat but hailed his ladies for outstanding in the entire four quarters.

“First of all we are still building a new side, by next season we will have a better squad.  We are still far away to reach the levels of our friends from the Southern region,” said Mulili.

In the quarter final games, Bingu Tigresses won 34-20 to Civonets before pruning Paladine 85-18 baskets while Escom Sisters walloped Mzuzu based side Mimosa by 40-4 before their second victory to Civonets 44-22.
