Sparc Systems managing director Wisely Phiri said they decided to sponsor the event after being impressed by the sponsorship proposal presented by the Lawn Tennis Association of Malawi (Ltam).

“Junior Tennis has the potential to put Malawi on the World map, this is the reason SPARC as a Malawian company decided to support the Junior Tennis Tournament,” he suggested.

“As a Malawian company, we believe in sponsoring sports as one way of developing young talent that could put the country on the map.

“They [Ltam] have a clear strategic plan on what they want to achieve by 2019 and we thought it wise to come in and assist,” he said.

LTAM General Secretary, Stain Kaunda thanked SPARC for the donation and appealed to other companies to emulate SPARC’s example.

“This is historic and we are very grateful to SPARC for the donation. The money will enable us to hold this year’s national Junior Tennis Tournament,” he pointed out.

In a related development, LTAM Technical Director, Thomson Mtengula said all is set for the regional Junior Tennis qualifiers.
