Standard Bank Malawi hires  new CEO: VP Chilima congratulates Madinga

One of the oldest commercial banks in the country, Standard Bank, has hired a new chief executive officer. He is a Malawian seasoned banker, Phillip Madinga whose contract starts from January 1 2021.

Madinga:  New CEO for Standard Bank

According to the bank, Madinga succeeds William le Roux who has been CEO for the bank for the past three years.

A statement signed by board chairperson Ngeyi Ruth Kanyongolo says Madinga brings to the bank an extensive experience in banking and financial services acquired over the last 26 years.

It further says Madinga has had a highly successful career over the last few years in leading, managing and growing businesses and driving financial perfomance for several banks.

Meanwhile, vice president Saulos Chilima has congratulated Madinga on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Standard Bank Malawi.

“As a man I have known for years since my days in the private sector, I am more than confident that Mr. Madinga will excel and steer the bank to more success,” says Chilima.

The veep says taking over as a new CEO is exhilarating but can also be overwhelming and challenging.
