Tabitha Chawinga nominated for two awards in Sweden: Malawi women football export

An incredible and scintillating perfomance by one of Malawi’s women football export Tabitha Chawinga who plies her trade in Sweden has earned her two award nominations.

The two awards are Best Forward and Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the Swedish Womens top flight football league.

Chawinga has so far scored 15 league goals in 21 matches and among the top five leading scorers.

She is however the only forward among the top five whose team is beyond the top three leading teams on the log table.

Her team Kvarnsvedens IK which is in its debut season of the top flight league is currently on position eight.

Chawinga inspired her team to earn a top flight league promotion from second division last season after banging 43 goals in 26 matches.

She is competing for the best forward award against Pernille Harder and Stina Blackstenius while for the MVP award, she is in contention with Harder and a Brazilllian known as Marta Vieira da Silva.

Marta is a five time World Womens Footballer of the Year winner.
