Team Entertainers to hold music concert in Salima

Team Entertainers, a group of music promoters in Malawi, will next month host a music concert called Sound and Light at Livingstonia Beach Hotel in Salima.

Chikakuda: Exposing Malawi talent to the world

The concert, whose theme is “Expose talent to the world”, will be held on September 29-30, according to public relations officer for the group Duffy Chikakuda.

He said the concert will bring together big names in gospel and secular music as well upcoming artists.

“Previously we only focused on established artists but this time around, we have a mixture of both veteran musicians and upcoming ones. The aim is for new artists to sharpen and expose their skills,” Chikakuda said.

International music promoters and musicians are also expected to grace the concert as one way of promoting Malawian music on the international music industry and market.

“We have invited some music promoters and artists from Europe and we hope some of our local artists to possibly benefit by clinching international deals.

“The other thing is that we want the presence of international artists to inspire local musicians in their careers” he said.

According to Chikakuda, another objective include promoting the country’s tourism industry by selling Malawi through international visitors who will come to the concert.

To this end, Team Entertainers is calling for support from all quarters towards a successful hosting of the concert.

“We still have problems in meeting some requirements. To organize such a massive event requires a lot of money. So we are asking for willing sponsors to help us in areas where we are falling short,” Chikakuda said.

He finally urged the general public to patronize the concert and be part of the fun.

“Malawians should come in their great numbers with their families and have fun with this music fest of the year” he said.

Roy View Banda, one of the gospel reggae artists expected to perform at the concert, said participating at this mega show is a big opportunity for him to push his music career to another level.

“It has always been my dream to perform at such a high level. The exposure will be a massive boost to my career and I thank Duffy for making my dream come true,” Banda said.

Damages for entrance to the concert are K7, 000 advance tickets and K10, 000 at the door.
