Three deacons to be ordained as priests at Limbe Cathedral Sat

The Archdiocese of Blantyre of the influential Roman Catholic Church is set to ordain three deacons into priesthood on Saturday at Limbe Cathedral in a big mass which will be led by His Grace Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa.

The deacons to be ordained are two diocesan Moffat Saimoni from Mnthawira Parish, Mark Gova from Chilomoni Parish and one spiritan Patrick Kachoka CSSP.

On the same day, Archbishop Msusa will also ordain five brothers of spiritans into deacons. The brothers are Damiano Gabriel and Edward Tembo from Thunga Parish,James Balala from Ntenje Parish, William Kalande from Ndirande Holy Ghost Parish and Lucius Zuze from Chipini Parish in Zomba Diocese.

According to Secretary Laity Council of Archdiocese of Blantyre, Chikondi Phikiso, the mass will start at 9 o’clock.

Phikiso said the laity council is urging all Christians and well wishers to join the Archdiocese in large numbers to witness the occasion as well as to pray together as a family.

“Catholic church believes in unity, so hence this call to celebrate together as a family. We ask all parishes within the Archdiocese to start preparing for patronage of the event,” said Phikiso.

The last time, Blantyre Archdiocese ordained priests at Limbe Cathedral was in July, 2014, where five deacons were ordained to priests.

The priests were Fr George Chatsalira, Fr Clement Mulole, Fr Vincent Mawonga, Fr Alick Mtapala and Fr Cuthbert Mkwezalalmba.
