Three hat-tricks in goals galore weekend of Malawi TNM Super League
From the 24 goals scored in eight of last weekend’s TNM Super League, three were hat-tricks from Mighty Wanderers’ Peter Wadabwa, Moyale Barracks’ Gastin Simkonda and Epac FC’s Anthony Banda.

Interestingly, Anthony Banda and Simkonda claimed their hat-tricks when their two teams met on Sunday at Silver Stadium in which Moyale won 5-3. Moyale’s other scorers were Crispin Fukizi and Ntopijo Njewa.
Wadabwa scored his hat-trick during the 3-1 win over Red Lions, helping Wanderers from from position 13 to 11.
Silver Strikers’ Binwell Katinji scored a brace in their 3-1 win over visiting Mzuzu-based Moyale on Saturday. The Bankers’ other scorer Sam Gunda while Moyale’s was Kuda Muyaba.
The win pushes Silver Strikers to the top spot with 23 points, displacing Blue Eagles, who drew 1-1 with Mzuni FC from Mzuzu on Saturdayto amass 22 points.
Moyale maintain their third sport. They now have 21 points.
After drawing 1-1 with Eagles on Saturday, Mzuni went on to beat Dwangwa United 2-1 to earn four points that moved them from position 7 to four with 20 points.
They have replaced Azam Tigers, who drew 0-0 with Wizards FC on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium.
After the loss, defending champions Bullets are still on position 10 with 12 points from seven games of three wins and three draws and a loss.
The Bullets, as well as their arch rivals Wanderers, have a lot of work to do to catch up after being on a three-week break when they contributed a bulk of their players for national duty in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Zimbabwe and the Cosafa Cup in Namibia where they were ousted after their three group qualifying games.
The three teams at the top have played more games during the Flames’ engagement in the past three weeks.
Bullets next game is against Wizards on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium while Wanderers date Max Bullets Thursday next week (July 7) at the same venue.
On Saturday (July 2), Red Lions date Civo United at Zomba Community Centre with Blue Eagles meeting Karonga United at Nankhaka.
The following day, Azam Tigers meet Mafco at Zomba Community Centre while Kamuzu Barracks date Karonga United at Civo Stadium.
