The Kanjedza based out-fit massacred Mchinjiri with 101-16  baskets in their first game  before clipping Serenity Stars with 81-19 baskets.

Diamonds have their evergreen shooter Tendai Masamba to praise as she was outstanding in notching baskets.

She showed composure every time she possessed the ball around the shooting area.

Other notable players who caused havoc to  Machinjiri and Serenity  included  Ellen Chibokho and Awema Chikaonda.  Beatrice Mpinganjira as well who acts as the engine room for the team was also a marvel to watch.

In an interview with Nyasa Times, Beatrice Mpinganjira said: “These are the type of games that we need to win without fail, because at the end of the tournament, they also count.”

Mpinganjira  said  their team which has young and upcoming players  is improving and hoping for better results and performances in games to come.

Machinjiri are finding the going very tough in the league as they have not registered any victory which they have played so far.

Serenity, who also lost to Tigresses  conceded that they are finding it tough but assured their fans that  second round, it will be a changed side.

In other encounters, Kukoma Diamonds  won against Vicky Sisters  with 113 -10 baskets, while Prison Sisters failed to ultilise home ground advantage as they went down 43-32 baskets to Tropical Queens.

The battle for points will  resume on Saturday with Serenity Sisters to take on Chileka Sisters at noon, while First Choice Tigresses will host Prison Queens.

Kukoma Diamonds will lock horns against Tropical Queens in Blantyre derby.
