TNM pumps K3.5 million to Squash Malawi Open Tournament

Premier mobile service provider TNM proudly announces the donation of K3.5 million to Squash Association of Malawi towards the 2014 Squash Malawi Open Tournament.

The association plans to host the Malawi Open Tournament that will run from October 31 to November 2, 2014.

Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony at TNM Head Office, Acting chief commercial officer, Sobhuza Ngwenya said the support aims at contributing towards the development of squash in Malawi.

“As a local brand we are committed to contribute towards  the development of different sports disciplines in the country as such we thought it that it was important for us to support the tournament which  has been set to act as a preparation platform for professional tournaments that are to be held in Kenya,” said  Ngwenya .

Ngwenya said TNM support will go towards procurement of relevant equipment such as trophies, balls, rackets as well as prizes for winners among others.

He expressed optimism that through these tournament local players will be exposed and builds more experiences as they prepare for the international tournament.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Squash Malawi vice president Gordon Benbow hailed TNM for the support

“ On behalf of Squash Malawi  I would like to commend TNM for this timely support and i would like to assure you that the money that you have given to us will be used wisely,” Benbow said.

The tournament which will be played at three venues in Lilongwe,  targets international players from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.
