TNM donates K1million to Special Olympics Malawi

Mobile network service provider TNM has donated K1 million towards the organization of Special Olympics Malawi (SOM) games taking place in Lilongwe from today.

The donation is in response to an appeal from SOM for financial assistance towards managing the event which has attracted a field of 250 athletes from Malawi’s three regions.

Special Olympics aim to integrate people with intellectual disability into society.

Said Sobhuza Ngwenya, TNM Head of Marketing; “TNM is proud to be partnering the Special Olympics Malawi games Organizing Committee in support of this national cause. We feel that the Special Olympic games as they provide a platform to integrate people with intellectual disability. Such people would otherwise be stigmatized, and that is not the kind of situation we at TNM would want to see because we’re a caring brand.”

He said TNM would continue to play an active role in sports development in Malawi through current sponsorship of the Super League, the Malawi Golf Open and Cricket Academy.

For his part, SOM Board Chairman Peter Mazunda thanked TNM for its kind gesture.

“We are grateful to TNM for recognizing the important role of Special Olympics in socio-economic integration of people with intellectual disabilities,” said Mazunda.
