Chilowa, a driver at Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) in Lilongwe emerged one of the 50 winners of a K2 million project under the Ufulu@50 promotion which TNM ran to celebrate Malawi’s 50th independence anniversary with customers. Winners are required to choose a social responsibility project of their choice.

“As a former student at Chintheche CDSS, I thought of giving back to the school as it had gone without one up to 2012. There was no computer when I was there between 2000 and 2004 and I thought of giving a chance to students interested in computers and other science subjects,” he said on Friday when TNM presented the prize at the school.

Receiving the donation, Chintheche CDSS Head teacher Eston Kaponde said it has come at the right time as the school will be launching computer studies next term.

TNM Head of Region (North) Richard Kwatiwani said the company is committed to fulfil its promises under Ufulu@50 Promotion.

“This is a life-changing promotion as prizes are going to worthy causes that will go a long way at community level. The current prize presentation phase demonstrates TNM’s commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility and meeting its obligations under Ufulu@50,” he said.

The presentation at Chinteche now leaves a balance of 49 social responsibility projects for TNM customers to hand over to their various communities. The 50 lucky customers each won K2 million, translating to a total of K100 million worth of CSR projects.
