TNM pumps K2.3m to Malawi golf team
TNM has made a donation of MK2,366,390 to the Golf Union of Malawi that will enable the national golf team compete at this year’s Zone VI international tournament in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Chief Commercial Officer Charles Kamoto on Wednesday presented the donation to Golf Union President Gabriel Kambale and reaffirmed the mobile network providers’ continuing support to the development of golf in Malawi.
Said Kamoto; “Being the largest sponsor of golf through the Malawi Golf Open, TNM remains firmly committed to the sport. Today’s donation is only a continuation of the traditional support TNM renders to golf union and this support is there to stay.”
TNM is the headline sponsor of the Malawi Open—the largest golfing stable in the country—and which attracts international golfers.
The Chief Commercial Officer said TNM is proud to be associated with the success that Malawi Golf registers at previous Zone IV games. Malawi came 4th during last year’s Zone IV games.
“The effort by our national golf team cannot go unnoticed, and deserves to be commended. TNM has decided to play its humble part by providing financial support that we hope will inspire the national team surpass its 2013 performance. As you fly out to Stellenbosch, TNM will be with you,” said Kamoto.
The Zone VI games attract national teams from East and Southern Africa.
This year’s tournament tees off 12-16th April at the picturesque Devonvale Golf and Wine Estate, an 18-hole course that combines luxury accommodation and the breathtaking views of Simonsberg Mountains in the red-wine producing valley of South Africa’s Western Cape province.
