TNM says it enjoys mutual relationship with Super League clubs

The first round of the TNM Super League—involving 15 teams—concluded last week, but there is no break for Sapota Mapeto Promotion and the league sponsors, Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) are still dangling K1.5 million to the team that will first hit 300,000 SMS count.

TNM, who are sponsoring the super league for fourth year running, rolled out Sapota Mapeto promotion to help clubs generate more revenue for the welfare of their players.

Teams have already managed to raise combined revenue of K2.6 million in the first month of the promotion.

At the time of the first draw, they had registered 70,794 SMS hits translating to K2,656,675 that the shared.

League leaders, Big Bullets got the majority of the share—K1,474,445 after their followers sent 39,023 SMS from June 16 to July 12 this year.

Their rivals, Mighty Be Forward Wanderers came second with 26,688 hits translating into K991,445 revenue.

The Lilongwe based side, Silver Strikers got K118,200 from 3,150 hits. The company also awards football fans with various prizes.

TNM Public Relations Manager Limbani Nsapato says the promotion has been a “huge success” as seen through the growth in revenue generated.

“A total of K16.3 million revenue was generated in Season Two (2014) compared to Season One’s MK12.7 million revenue. The biggest recipient, Big Bullets Football Club, managed to raise MK9.3 million.

“The 2014 promotion generated a total of 603,982 SMSs with one individual supporter sending in as many as 3,881 SMSs,” explains Nsapato.

He said they are committed to developing the standards of football in the country, hence the K90 million sponsorship.

“TNM’s key objective is to develop the standards of football in Malawi. The TNM Super League is the main feeder for the national team hence high standards in the league are likely to impact positively on the team.

“Sponsorship is an important marketing tool the world over. TNM believes that football is an important platform for leverage its strategic marketing activities,” says Nsapato.

He therefore said there is mutual relationship between the company and all super league sides and hoped that footballs will always participate in the ongoing promotion.

“TNM’s relationship with clubs and supporters remains cordial. We enjoy mutual relationship with all clubs that are competing in the league.

“Most of the football fans are TNM Customers and we believe that we have a good relationship with them as they use our services,” asserts Nsapato.

To enter the promotion, each supporter has to send an SMS of their team’s code to 1515 using TNM line. The SMS costs K50 and K35 goes to the fan’s team.

Fans have the chance of winning monthly prizes that include K200,000, TNM recharge vouchers, handsets, Flames replica jerseys, while two football followers with the highest entries we be given 40 inch Samsung TVs.
