TNM voted most improved Malawi telecommunication brand

One of Malawi’s mobile phone company TNM on Friday was voted the country’s 2013 most improved brand during an awards ceremony organized by the Chartered Institute of Marketers (CIM) Marketing Excellence Awards at Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre.

According to the citation on the award, TNM which is Malawi’s pioneer mobile phone company, stole the hearts of marketers due to its aggressive marketing campaigns throughout the year which culminated into the acquisition of 2 million customers on its network.

“Companies are starting to take marketing very seriously and this category looks at companies that made huge strides towards evolving into market led institutions. TNM won for its huge milestone 2 million subscribers that was perception driven and positioned the brand into a contending leader,” said the citation.

TNM Chief Commercial Director, Charles Kamoto said he was happy his company was recognized for initiating campaigns that impacted on the lives of Malawians which led to more people joining the network.

“We are a Malawian brand that communicates in a language Malawians understand. We can only be thankful to Malawians because of their trust in this brand as evidenced by its continued growth,” said Kamoto.

Apart from most improved brand of the year award, the company also carted home commercial of the year for print award.

Its 2 million customers advert won the award because of its ability to creatively deliver brand communication, according to the judges.

To crown it all, TNM also won the most visible brand of the year award. The judges asserted that brand presence and visibility is a key barometric determinant of social influence the brand has in a setting.

The judges said they based their judgment on the brand affinity to audience.

Speaking before the awards CIM Malawi President, Gladson Kuyeli said the marketing excellence awards will be held every year to award marketing creativity and excellence.
