Two killed in Lilongwe fatal accident, 7 injured

A 43 year old man and unidentified woman have died in Lilongwe after they were involved in a fatal accident which occured along Chendawaka Road in Area 25, Lilongwe over the weekend.

Fatal accident

Malawi Police identified one of the deceased as James Msiska who was driving a Toyota Opa with registration number BR6337 and was coming from the direction of Area 25A heading towards Kanengo.

The other vehicle involved is a Toyota Passo with registration number BS1270 and was being driven by Esau Chinyama.

Kanengo Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sub-Inspector Labani Makalani confirmed the development but said investigations to find the cause of the accident was still under way as the story was published.

But sketchy details reveals that the accident happened due to overspeeding resulting into Msiska failing to control his vehicle and ended up colliding with Chinyama’s vehicle which was coming from the opposite direction.

Makalani said Chinyama is currently admitted to hospital at Kamuzu Central Hospital.

Meanwhile, Makalani has advised all road users to avoid overspeeding, drinking and driving and to observe road signs at all times as a measure of reducing road accidents during the festive season.
