Undule says Malawi cannot continue harassing and demonizing Prophet Bushiri, his family: ‘Let child go for specialized medical attention’

Veteran governance, human rights and public policy expert, Undule Mwakasungula, has asked the renowned Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and the Malawi Police Service to consider engaging in dialogue to resolve issues surrounding the decision by the government to block Bushiri’s critically ill daughter from travelling abroad to seek specialized medical attention.

Undule Mwakasungula urges Malawi government and Bushiri to resolve their differences to save the life of the prophet’s sick daughter

Bushiri’s daughter was scheduled to fly to Kenya last week where she was scheduled to access treatment for her sickness. However, the police at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) refused her and her guardians exit on unexplained reasons.

People from diverse professions and careers have reacted angrily to the decision by the Malawi Police Service to block the innocent child from travelling abroad to seek medical assistance.

And in an interview with Nyasa Times, Mwakasungula said refusing the daughter to seek medical help outside the country is a violation of her right to medical treatment of her choice.

His sentiments came barely hours after Freedom of Worship Association of Malawi (FOWAM) president Prophet David Mbewe warned that Malawi would be courting the wrath of God if the government continued blocking the child from travelling to Kenya.

Mwakasungula emphasized that the State has the obligation to support the right to health of Prophet Bushiri’s daughter regardless of the issues affecting the father.

“First and foremost it is important to promote and protect the rights of every Malawian including those of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and family whether he is facing charges or not. Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is innocent until proven guilty, he and his family must enjoy their fundamental human rights and freedoms without any hindrance as per our Constitution,” he said.

“I am therefore calling upon our Government and Prophet Shepherd Bushiri to engage so that issues surrounding the daughter’s treatment abroad can be resolved.This also can be an opportunity for government to listen to Prophet Shepherd Bushiri side of  his story. Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is a Malawian citizen who needs full protection and support from government, looking at what he is doing and done for this country in terms boosting our economy and his numerous humanitarian works,” added Mwakasungula.

He said Malawi cannot continue harassing and demonizing Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, his family and his ministry, stressing that Bushiri is an asset to Malawi and globally and this is evidenced by his huge investments and millions of  his members and followers.

We know that there are issues between Bushiri and the Government of Malawi and personally His Excellence the President of the Republic but our President is a Church goer and even to God and let him leave those matters and concentrate whatever he is currently doing for his people. Leave everything in the hands of God as this battle is not for you but God. People will never appreciate of your good work and let the daughter of Bushiri go and attend medical attention.

The problem of this nation is Sanje basi, kaduka…which is a spirit of witchcraft to me. if the heard the child died they would celebrate. thats malawi who love to hear bad news only and not wish others well.

    if Bushiri is a bad man of God why not pray for him to repent , thats our role if we see ourselves Holy than Bushiri.   12. Bushiri and wife are thieves. If they were not guilty, why did they run away from South Africa, the same way that they tried to run away from Malawi now? They sent the girls out of South Africa first,then they the parents left after. Just like now they were sending the girls out to Kenya first. If your child is sick,why will you send both children out of the country? If your child is sick,why will you not accompany her as the parents? This guy,wife and Esther Bushiri have too much to hide.

    Compare yourself Undule with Willah Mudolo who is languishing in jail right now just because of bushiri…who was closer to him, you or Mudolo? They shared R100 million rand from poor people and am sure you will never get such an amount from him. This was done with mudolo coz they were buddies at the time.
    When he was running away he did not consider mudolo’s fate coz of him escaping at any point in time.
    Cancer striken ecg members have died while bushiri is milking them, he doesn’t care.
    People very close to him have died while he is benefitting from them but you’ll never see him kupita olo kupepesa malilo.

    One person cannot be a victim in South Africa, Botswana, USA, malawi at the same time. Something very wrong with such a person, and as long as he doesn’t change he must pay for the consequences for being such a heartless human being.

      In the past administrations, we saw people undergoing trials in court leaving the country to seek treatment abroad .

I also understand why Bushiri’s followers (the Mwakasungulas) are angry because even the followers of Baal and Artemis {Demetrius} were very angry when Elijah and Paul respectively proved Baal and Aritemis as false gods. If someone doesn’t know till now that Bushiri is a true man of God, that particular person might be an agent of the Devil.       Ask him whether Bushiri is from God or not. If God loves you he will tell you.. If you are a man of God and you perform miracles it does not mean that you can perform miracle that your daughter should grow miraculously without eating. Food is meant for someone to eat and grow. if you are a man of God does not mean you leave the child once she/he is born so that God himself will take care or nurse the child and the child will grow because God is taking care of the child. What does it mean? It means that If you pray it does not mean some physical caring that requires human being will require God’s involvement, if you are a man of God it doesn’t mean your wife will give birth miraculously without involvement of nurses, if you need vitamins, proteins, etc you don’t ask from God that you need those things because they involve hospital advice.. and some nurses to take care of you.

  30. His daughter indeed deserves treatment anywhere in the world.The point to note is that Bushiri sent guardians together with his other child besides the sick one. Bushiri remains a suspect though innocent until proven guilty. Before he fled South Africa, he had already sent his children with guardians to Malawi. Isn’t it suspicious sending his children with guardians to Kenya instead of only sending the sick one? He should have cleared this upfront though he has no strings attached but he should know that he is a fugitive in South Africa.

    We have been told,the child has an on going medical condition requiring going to Kenya every now and then.

    Did Bushiri or his lawyer ever approach the Malawi authorities to inform them of this and ask for the best way to go about it?

    How does a father with a sick child who knows he has legal complications overlook such an important detail.

    How does a lawyer whose job is to advise his client,advise a client to go ahead and hire an air ambulance,and ringing a huge entourage without the courtesy of informing authorities?

    This is a man with a diplomatic passport,which requires holders “Kutsanxika” if I am not mistaken.

    Some fool will argue the child has no diplomatic passport,that’s even worse,a seriously sick person is not allowed to fly,and the authorities were not made aware of the air ambulance.
