Violence at Kabudula’s burial as Chief Lundu censors MCP
Irate supporters of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) were forced to stone one of Chewa senior chiefs for censoring the party during the burial ceremony of Senior Chief Kabudula of Lilongwe who died on Sunday.
Senior Chief Kabudula died after a long illness and was buried at his headquarters at Ndamera in the district of Lilongwe. President Peter Mutharika attended the burial.
However, tension heightened when Paramount Chief Lundu turned his eulogy into a mini political recital by condemning MCP violence while warning the party to stop dreaming of ever ruling the country.
Lundu’s sentiments did not go well with some factions of MCP supporters who started booing him in disagreement to his utterance.
Soon after the funeral the supporters started hunting for Lundu and were seen throwing stones at his vehicle just after Mutharika’s motorcade had left. Police were called in to control the situation.
Senior Chief Kabudula was born on 3rd March 1948; came into power in 1998 and was promoted to Senior Chief in March 2016. He is survived by 13 children and 24 grandchildren.
The royal family is yet to identify who is to assume the position. President Mutharika elevated Kabudula to the position of senior chief last year.

I have said several times about Lundu. Lundu is not Chewa but a Mang’anja why do Chewa chiefs align with him. See what he does now. All this mess is because of Lukwa, Kaomba, Dambe (MC) and Nthondo because of greed. Chewa chiefs your greatness is deteriorating. Look at other chiefs even among the Mang’anja. And why is Gawa silent on traitors? The Chewas are disengaged in many areas and yet their chiefs are having fun with DPP

In all fairness chief Lundu errored. Why bring politics pa maliro?
Everyone knows that Lundu has access to MBC where he could pour out his heart in line with the desires of his political masters and political inclination.
It was a great insult to the chewas.
