Mighty Be Forward Wanderers right back Bongani Kaipa has impressed Zambia’s top league side Zanaco FC where he is undergoing trials.
Five days into his two-week trials the Zambian national league side’s technical panel is satisfied with the performance of the player.
Bongani’s manager Prince Jere, who facilitated his trials at Zanaco, said the club wants to sign the former Under-20 national football team.
“They wanted a top class right-back and I felt Kaipa was the right candidate,” Jere said.
“I am glad that he did not disappoint me,” Jere, who is a representative of Dynamic Sports Management, said the Zambian giants were ready to sign Kaipa once the transfer window re-opens in June.
“They have told me that they are impressed with the players’ performance but that they can only sign him in June when transfer window is re-opened,” he said.
Sensational Zanaco, as the club is fondly called in Zambia, is one of the most successful clubs in Copper rich nation. They are sponsored by Zambia National Commercial Bank and the team has won the league title in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2009 went on to represent Zambia in the Africa Confederation Cup.
They the reclaimed the title in 2012 and last season they finished on fourth position. Malawi’s Bullets played Zanaco in the CAF Champions League in which Jimmy Zakazaka’s away goal forced penalty shoot-outs in which Bullets went on to win.
Legendary Zambia football commentator Dennis Liwewe nicknamed Zakazaka Weapon of Mass Destruction after his brilliant goal sank the hosts and eventually got booted out of the tournament.
