White man spoils Lucius Banda’s TNM gig

Unidentified white man lodging at Capital Hotel in Lilongwe  surprised patrons at the TNM Super League presentation ceremony Wednesday night when he jumped on stage as music icon  Lucious Banda was about to perform calling on the hired Zembani Band to pack their equipment and leave the place.

The man claimed he could not sleep due to what he called noise from the Zembani sounds.

Banda who was hired to spice up the ceremony called for a help from the hotel management officials to get rid of the man before he proceeded with the show.

“Can we have the hotel management officials on stage to get rid of this gentleman please,” said Banda.

As Malawi’s music guru was speaking, some patrons were heard shouting at the Whiteman and others threatened to drag him physically out of the marquee lounge where the function was held.

Ndindaninso uyu kuti ativute ife tikufuna kuvina timunyamulatu ife (who is he to give us tough time, we want to dance here),” shouted one man.

This development came after Sports Minister Vuwa Kaunda had ordered the sponsors TNM not to let Banda perform until the minister leaves the function.

The ‘Soldier’ dished out only three songs before signing off leaving the audience in suspense.

He opened the floor with Wokondedwa Wanga from his ‘Life’ album then Wandithawadi before waving goodbye with Pharaoh taken from the album ‘Survivor’.

Earlier, Lulu had set the mood with a number of his hit songs which included Bondiya and Wachenjera Darling.
