As dates to the Lake of Stars keep drawing closer, the organisers continue unveiling international acts billed to perform at the three-day international arts festival slated for 26-28 September, 2014 at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.
Added on the list are Zimbabwean sensational female singers Selmor Mtukudzi (daughter to Zimbabwe’s music legend Oliver Mtukudzi) and the charming vocalist Pearl Natasha.
Selmor Mtukudzi is an Afro Jazz artist popular with her hit song Nguva Yangu, while songstress Pearl Natasha Waungana has been making waves with her 2013 hit Take Control/Ndiwe.
“We are delighted to announce that the wonderful Selmor Mtukudzi will be coming from Zimbabwe to play Lake of Stars in September,” announced LOS organizers on their Facebook page this week.
“[Also] get ready to welcome Zimbabwe’s amazing vocal talent Pearl Natasha who will be joining our star-studded line-up at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in September,” disclosed the organizers.
Apart from the two female vocalists, the LOS also announced that Zimbabwean group, Band Tower, will be making an appearance at the festival.
According to the LOS team, the Zimbabwean band is keen to create synergies with other regional artists at the art carnival that gathers together artists and patrons from Malawi and across the world.
Apart from the Zimbabwean acts, two Kenyan DJs named Jack Rooster and Raj el Rey will also be flying from Nairobi with their Afro-House and Electronic jams, respectively.
So far, LOS has also announced South Africa’s hip-hop artist, Reason, and Zambia’s hip-hop group, Zone Fam, as some of the international headliners. Local artists unveiled so far are Skeffa Chimoto, Peter Mawanga, Piksy, Mafilika, Agorosso, Sally Nyundo and Body, Mind and Soul.
