The Flames will regroup after coming from the Confederation of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) held in South Africa where they won the Silver Plate.

Coach Young Chimodzi said the team would be expected to leave on Friday for Egypt for a friendly game on June 8.

“We are going to camp on Tuesday and expect to leave on Friday for Egypt,” Chimodzi said.

He said all the players who made the Cosafa squad would be maintained.

“We are not going to drop any player from the Cosafa at this point in time because I was impressed with their performance,” he said.

Malawi crashed out of the competition after losing to Mozambique in penalty shoot outs after a two-all draw in open play.

They gave away a 2-1 lead in the dying minutes to be held to a two-all draw.

In the plate competition they beat South Africa 5-4 on penalty shoot outs to reach set up a tie with Zambia.

They capped a brilliant performance with a 1-0 victory against former Africa Cup of Nations champions Zambia in the final to earn a consolation prize money of K2.2 million.

  12. We soccer lovers would like to see Flames play the way they did against SA and Zambia. But try to teach the boys to fire on goal from a distance, it helps when you meet a tight defense of the opposing team.

  13. Mike Dulira says:

    gud for that.

  14. ZZ Junior says:

I went to Mzuzu stadium to watch BB vs Mzuni, BB Vs Moyale, Mzuni Vs Moyale…alas…I am not going to attend these super league matches anymore. The standard of play is so poor. Wamwamba basi. Achipopelanji. Young and company are doing a very good job at least the national team is able to string a few passes together.. siza super league teams. keep it up Young bravo flames.

  15. All the best our boys but you must stop scoring on both goal posts yours & the opposition’s.

  17. thamby says:

you need to beef up the team with some experienced players don`t be cheated with the cosafa cup most teams used young players but AFCON they will use proffetionals which are more tactical than these up coming stars.

  19. thamby says:

what about kamwendo,ng`ambi, chiukepo and goal keeper munthali from Beforward

  20. Titus German says:

Pliz the team seems promising mantain it, dont include those spade forces coated as proffessionals

  21. Kadakwiza says:

This Young Chimodzi guy is dreaming, he think he beat Zimbabwe with those inexperience players? This time our coach need professionals. Think of Zimbabwe players like Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiati, Tendai Ndoro, Cuthbert Malajira, Katsande, Peter Moyo, Mahachi. Malawi will be embarrassed at Kamuzu Stadium. Mr Young Chimodzi must know that, this is a Afcon qualification not a Cosafa Plate or a spoon or a saucer, whatever. This is serious.

  22. Namisako. says:

good idea to maintain the cosafa squad, please do not bring in those old rusty legs back.I have had enough days of disappointment from them.Player akakalamba wakalamba basi, tisamukakamire.Tione kuti kodi anawa atipangira zotani.FLAMES GO! GO! GO! Tili pambuyo panu.

  23. Nyamakumutu says:

If the game will be played at home as this reporter is putting it does not make sense to play a frind ly game away from the home stadium. This friendly would have been reserved for the away game to Guinea than doing it now. After all Zimbabwe does not play the Egypt format. Something is wrong in the planning.

  24. Jacob kwananda says:

Flames yamotoo…now we can talk gud things of our team according to their perfomance in COSAFA so our coaches must use the same squad let the young players showing their talents.
