Malawian referees have been picked to handle a friendly game between Madrid Legends and Tanzania Legends on Saturday in Dar-es-Salaam.
Tanzanian Football Federation appointed Fifa referee Duncan Lengani and assistant referees Clement Kanduku and Innocent Kaundula to handle the testimonial game.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) General Suzgo Nyirenda applauded Tanzania for having confidence in the Malawian referees.
“We would like to appreciate for the trust and confidence that our friends have in our referees,” Nyirenda said.
“This would give them exposure to handle a game against former football greats although its is more of a social game.”
Former Madrid Stars including Luis Figo, Guti, Fabio Cannavaro, Fernando Morientes have confirmed their pariticipation in the game.
Zinedine Zidane, Michael Owen and Ruud Van Nistelrooy are on stand by on the list of 25-man travelling party.
Tanzania Football and tourism sectors are set to gain immensely as a galaxy of former Real Madrid stars would be a three-day tour of the country and interact with fans.
