Mutharika urges Malawians to be faithful in paying taxes

President Arthur Peter Mutharika has urged Malawians to be faithful in paying taxes as government uses the funds for various development activities.

President Mutharika being briefed by Local government minister Kondwani Nankhuwa

He said this in Mzuzu Thursday when he toured road upgrades taking place in the city.

“Let me urge you fellow Malawians to be faithful in payment of various taxes so that government can collect enough money that will be used to further develop our cities,” the president urged.

During the tour, Mutharika eiterated government’s desire to see all the roads in the country’s cities and towns upgraded to bitumen standard.

“I want to emphasize that it is my government’s priority to see no dusty road in the country’s cities, and we are tirelessly working towards achieving that,” he said.

The Head of State assured Malawians government will ensure it completes all the projects it has started in the region namely Mombera University in Mzimba and Njakwa-Livingstonia-Chitimba Road in Rumphi just to mention a few.

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa, unveiled government plans to extend road construction to district locations.

Member of Parliament for Mzuzu City, Leonard Njikho, said upgrading of the two roads of Chiwanja-Katawa and Luwinga-Nkhorongo was a dream come true for the city’s residents who he said have waited expectantly for years.

he said the upgraded roads will help ease transportation costs as people will now be paying less money than before.

“In the past, since roads were dusty and bumpy, transporters would charge exorbitant fares for short distances. But with the upgraded roads, we are sure that the fares will reduce,” Njikho said.

He added that the Luwinga-Nkhorongo road will ensure easy transportation of goods to factories since it is a road in an industrial area.

Mr.Mathanyula show us the example. You have very bad administrative establishment, you want peoples’ taxes to satisfy your own selfish ambitions? If you have ranout of notions to lead the nation, packup and go to your first nation USA,you have nothing to offer us packup and go please, you stop polarising our country for your own good.Since you became the President of Malawi,Malawians have become laughing stock of Africa and political lepers of the world. If you are ready to perish like your corrupt brother Bingu, just continue to steal our resources. Please take heed!!!!!!

We pay tax in a very avenues of our lives, but you cashgate it, your ministers cashgate, your party cadres cashgate it.

You are lucky you put your Lomwe people in all strategic positions hence people are not uprising.

One day, they will rise and say enough is enough.

Paying taxes we do. But not all of us live in towns and we can not all live in there. We also urge the Minister of Local Government to consider developing TAs HQs to become trading centers. There should be a tarred road from the national road , electrical line and running water from wherever to every TA HQ . We would also need every TA HQ to have a clinic,Police post and a secondary school. This will help uplift peoples lives.

People pay tax even they dont get back anything. He should check with his cabinets If they pay tax. Its only small earners and small businessmen and women Who pay tax. Once they pay tax president and his cabinets gurus enjoy the tax money. Those Who pay what do they get? There is not medicines in government hospitals, they dont get allowances, house allowances, cars , nothing is paid for them despite paying taxes. The president use money to hire an expensive jet plane from Arab world when there is hunger in the country and now he want poor People… Read more »
