Tigers, Red Lions share points: Malawi TNM Super League

Azam  Tigers and relegation battle fighters Red Lions have shared a point after forcing each other to a one-all-draw in their TNM Super  League match played on Saturday at Chilomoni Stadium.

Tigers attacking midfielder Mayeso Mphanje put the Kau-Kau Boys on lead in the 16 minutes after converting a direct free kick which was taken from outside the eighteen-yard box beating Lions goal minder
Clement Mulomba.

But Lions striker Innocent Bokosi cancelled Tigers lead in the 44 minutes when he scored what it can be considered as one of the
beautiful 2017 TNM super league goal when chested down a Willard John cross in the box and produced a powerful shot in presence Tigers defenders who were caught sleeping.

Played in a sized and almost empty stadium both sides played a fast attacking game and created a number of opportunities but lack of
composure in the box was a serious problem to the strikers as they missed some clear chances that could’ve produced goals.

Tigers coach Patrick Kulemeka said he was very excited with the result but he quickly blamed Red Lions for playing a physical game
throughout the match which he said affected their normal play.

“We started the game at a good pace and we had all the confidence of collecting maximum but unfortunately my boys stopped playing their passing game and they were forced to a kick and rush play for being fear of getting injuries because our collegues were always rough on the ball,” said Kulemeka.

Red Lions vice coach Prichard Mwansa expressed disapointment with the
draw which he said its a setback to their side as they are fighting to move out from relegation zone.

“Its very unfortunate that despite playing good football at the end of the game we are failing to collect the needed points. We have a good
squad which can win even morethan four games consective but the winning spirit is not there but we’ll try to find and fix all the
problems before it is too late,” said Mwansa.
