Balaka people embrace PP’s Tiuzeni campaign
People In Balaka have embraced the Tiuzeni campaign that People’s Party (PP) introduced as a way of engaging the masses in the policy dialogue with the party in the run up to the National Convention in June this year.
PP introduced the initiative, first of its kind in Malawi, as a way of giving power to the people to own the manifesto that is being drafted.
Maness Bwana of Traditional Authority Kalembo in Balaka says the program is of importance to the people as the manifesto will include what people in the country want.
“No other party has ever given power to the people to include their views in a manifesto, what this means is that the Vice President has the will of people at heart, she wants us to own the party and contribute the development of this country,” Bwana said.
She further said people, who are affected mostly by what political parties do, have been given a chance to include their views in a way that will bring change to their lives.
Iman Issah concurred with Bwana saying time has come for people to voice their views in issues that affect them. He added that Malawi need a party that can listen to its people like PP has shown.
Vice President Joyce Banda explained about the Tiuzeni campaing to people of Balaka at a rally in the district on Tuesday.
She said the party will take everyone’s view into consideration when drafting the manifesto as a way of empowering them.
“People’s Party as the name says is a party for the people, the Tiuzeni project will give power to the people to be heard as people without power are helpless. She said adding that people are the engine of growth,” said Banda
She explained that people need to organize themselves to fight poverty, oppression, unemployment and underdevelopment that are in the country.
Banda said PP will strive to create job opportunities to create wealth for Malawians.
Tiuzenicampaign was launched by the Vice President in January this year.
