Jamaican reggae singer Luciano to perform in Malawi
Jamaican reggae singer Lucian will give Malawian reggae fans a rare treat t after confirming his tour of the country on October 19 in the country’s capital city of Lilongwe.
Born Jephter Mcclymont, would perform at Lilongwe Golf Club at the invitation of South Africa based reggae Malawian musician , Nelson Shaba, who runs Born Afrikan Productions..
Luciano will be on a tour of Africa and took advantage to offer his compatriots a chance to be part of the fun.
But details about his tour and charges of the show are yet to be released.
In a 35 seconds video the 49-year-old reggae singer expressed excitement to perform in Malawi.
“Born African Productions presents Jah Messenger live in Malawi on 19th of October. Malawi, the Jah Messenger is coming to Lilongwe on the 19th October, see you there,” he said.
Local artists including Black Missionaries, Blasto, Trumel, will be supporting acts with Born African and Luciano being the headliners of the show.
The Jamaican artist, who has 20 albums to his credit, is popular among Malawians with songs such as Lord Give Me Strength, Sweep Over Mu Soul, It’s Me Again Jah and New Day.
This will be the second time for a Jamaican reggae star perform in Malawi after Sean Kingstone’s show three years ago.
Another Jamaican singer Mutabaruka known for his music presented in unique style of recital and poetic has also visited the country twice during the Blantyre Arts Festival although he did not perform.
