Nomads add woes to Escom, come from behind to win
Impressive Mighty ‘Nyerere’ Wanderers added more miserly to Escom United technical panel on Sunday after coming from behind to score two quick goals in the last five minutes of the match in Balaka.
The Nomads, who were trailing 1-0 in the first half after Noel ‘Amfumu’ Mkandawire scored for the electricians in the 37th minutes produced a five star performance in the second half.
The Lali- Lubani Road boys equalized their first goal through a cracking header from Nafe Msasa before Blessings Phiri cut off the power lines at the last minute of the match.
Nomads team manager Mac Hodges Chunga was delighted with the results describing it as a stepping stone to the title.
“We are not leaving any stone unturned to our plans. After missing the standard bank cup our target now is on the league,” said change.
Escom mentor Charles Manda whose head is on knife edge after Escom’s executive gave him two games to win or face the axe, was dejected.
“We lacked concentration towards the end of the match and poor marking was the reason for us to concede that goal,” said Manda.
In another encounter in Lilongwe, Epac FC walloped Cobbe Barracks 4-0.
Epac also popularly known as “Njenjete zamu Lilongwe” netted their scores through a brace from the current league scorer Ishmael Thindwa, Mussa Manyenje and Rodrick Douglas.
Epac coach Abasi Makawa said: “I am very proud with my boys because they displayed marvellous football.”
