Airtel donates 10 computers to Mandila community technical college in Nkhotakota
Under the flagship corporate social responsibility programme dubbed ‘touching lives’ one of the leading mobile service provider, Airtel Malawi has made a donation of 10 brand new computers at Mandila community technical college in Nkhotakota district.
Speaking during the handover ceremony recently in Nkhotakota Airtel zone business Manager for Nkhotakota, Salima, Ntchisi and Dowa Nickson Makawa said the company has been avid supporter of the education sector with various teaching and learning materials.
Makawa said Airtel’s role is to ensure that people living in communities are being uplifted and developed.
“We have a corporate social responsibility to play in the education sector and that is why after going through the ministry of labour, training and vocations who recommended community colleges, we thought of giving hand in the ICT infrastructures, computers to be specific,”
He appealed to the students to take full responsibility of the computers so that their friends may also use in future.
Receiving the donation acting Principal for Mandila community technical college Edson Kaudzu expressed gratitude saying the donation will help in relieving challenges the college has been facing due to lack of computers.
“We are in the era of E-libraries, now the coming in of the computers will help a lot of students in using the computers to access academic information,” he said.
