Chimwendo tells Mulanje MP ‘his president is at mental hospital’

Dowa East MP Richard Chimwendo Banda (MCP) taunted Mulanje Bale legilstaor Victor Musowa (Democratic Progressive Party-DPP) that his president is at psychiatric  facility.

“I would like to ask the Honourable Member for Mulanje Bale which sovereign state is he because his President is now at Zomba Mental Hospital,” said  Chimwendo Banda.

He was actually referring to self-styled supreme leader Vincent Wandale  of People’s Land Organisation (PLO)  who is president for the self-proclaimed United States of Mulanje and Thyolo (Must).

Wandale is currently at Zomba Mental Hospital after Lilongwe Magistrate Court orderdd that he should receive treatment following recommendation of doctors that he is mad.

However, Machinga Likwenu MP  David Lally of United Democrtaic Front (UDF)  protested the remarks by Chimwendo Banda, saying  it was in bad taste  “not good for the House to the extent of mentioning  that our President is in the Mental Hospital.

He said: “This is a House of records, we need to be clear which President is he talking about? As Members of Parliament, we only have one President who is not in the Mental Hospital. “

First Deputy Speaker Esther Mcheka-Chilenje  ruled Chimwendo Banda out of order.

However,  some  legislators from the opposition benches were heard murmering at Mulanje Bale MP  like “Wopopa magazi uyo! Namapopa!” (He is a blood sucker, the Vampire).
