Don’t be ‘Decisively Indecisive’ in life, says Malawi VP Chilima

State Vice President Saulos Chilima has urged young people in the country to be decisive and take risks in life if they are to succeed.

Chilima, who became Malawis Vice President at 41 in 2014, was speaking at Mtendere Secondary School in Dedza where he attended mass and this year’s Form 4 graduation ceremony.

As a former student of the school, he urged the 63 graduating students to be decisive in life, saying indecision can be disastrous in life.

“You have to be confident and decisive of what you want to become. Don’t fall in the category of people who are decisively indecisive. For such people making a decision is a difficult task,” Chilima said.

The veep told the students that indecision breeds fear and inaction which he said are enemies of progression.

“In my life and entire career I have looked at indecision as fatal. Actually, it is better to make a bad decision than to be indecisive.

“Indecision is a seedling for fear and inaction,” he said.

On risk taking, he urged the students never to be contended with the status quo but keep on discovering and innovating.

“Wherever you go from here take chances. Make mistakes. Make interesting mistakes. Most importantly learn from your mistakes,” he said.

After his speech, the Vice President donated a laptop and K100,000 cash to the overall best performing student while the runner up got a laptop only.

He also donated football and netball kits.

At sometime there was cathedral silence ftom the students as they emotionally listened how during their time they could walk from Chimbiya turn off to the school carrying one bag on the head and another at the back, a distance of 11 kilometers.

“If we were lucky we could jump in an oxcart. We accepted the challenge and made sure we were not derailed,” he said.

Commenting on a request by School Head teacher Brother Arthur Ganiza and outgoing Headboy Emmanuel Namangale to reach out to former students, the Vice President promised to mobilise the alumni so that they can assist the school with a minibus and reequip the computer laborotary.

Keep quiet if the message given by VP to form 4 students is beyond your comprehension. To those who are intelligent and know the way the VP talks it is a very good message with a lot of meaning. Bravo VP you are the only hope of this nation.

Has he proven to Malawians that he has told APM to be decided when handling development and corruption issues?
Many believe that the guy is bright but we have not seen how much he has offered to Malawians. We believe, he can do wonders if he DECIDES to leave the DPP and work with MCP which proves to be visionary now than any other party in MW. Bwana VP make a decision now than later please. People have trust in you than …..mbwindi wankuluyo.

This guy is too Catholic. He has no time for any other things. Again that message is not crucially important to form four school leavers.
