Dzuka Malawi: DPP might never rise again
Well I don’t comment much on State of the Nation Address (SONA) I find them wanting and Government Ministries send to the Presidency of a colourful portrait which reflects nothing on the ground. For starters, the Ministry of Finance and Reserve Bank of Malawi have not reported that the dollar is scarce and trading almost K900 at black market, the Minister of Trade is failing to sort out cement problem weeks after it surfaced, meaning most contracts which employ dozens of labour have stopped, the Minister of Agriculture- though this is September- can’t tell Malawians where to get cheap fertiliser and The Ministry of Gender cant tell the elderly where to get their promised K15,000.00

As a worker I am not sure where when my K100,000 zero percent tax band will start. You see, if you have time to listen to SONA, try comical Tom and Jerry. The only difference with this SONA was that we are about to become target of Hamas for declaring Jerusalem to be Capital of Israel. But that is story for another day. We are yet to learn to do research and speak only when necessary.
Otherwise I have heard 49 SONA’s, the sound the same, Malawi gets poorer and cronyism continues. The difference will be when we read the budget. May be then reading it we will agree on a few things. But note, I say reading the budget. For the budget to be fully implemented is a story for 2021, when we will hear Covid 19 failed us or DPP stole all the money. Yet Ministers are being paid and Information Minister Gospel Kazako showing a middle finger tells us all- whether you want or not Honourable Members of Parliament are a national priority, they need good houses pronto.
Debate all you can about SONA. That’s why I find Kondwani Nankhumwas response as one more empty especially where he cries for some of the redeployed people who managed Ministries. There is a big problem with the DPP, they live on a different planet than most Malawians.
If I was Nankhumwa, I would have focused on pointing out what the President left out especially in terms of their manifesto, statement and the justification over official houses for parliamentarians.
The DPP might be long long time in opposition if it does not change the way it does things where some people remain indispensable who have become absolute. The DPP simply lost because it believed it was too clever, too big and not accountable to the voters.
The DPP lost because there were too many little Presidents and too many cartels that advised Peter Mutharika not to go out campaign, keep Jane Ansah when she was unpopular, fire General Nundwe on fake intelligence report that said he was plotting a coup with Saulosi Chilima and arrogance to have one of the least qualified Malawians, Everton Chimulilenji to be a potential head of state.
The DPP want to subject to discipline Gleselder Jeffrey for speaking what many in DPP are talking in WhatsApp groups or elsewhere. It is the same reason it lost elections. The same with a few people mainly at State House running the party, not the elected officials.
For DPP to have Francis Mphepo, a dinosaur who has never won an election to manage reforms is a joke. If DPP thinks Brown Mpinganjira has more clout than Nicholas Dausi just because he is a Lhomwe, then the party will end up like a tribal cabal that every Malawian thinks it is.
If DPP wants to return to public arena, here is a structure that would work for you. Appoint Rosemary Mkandawire and Bright Msaka and co-Presidents, Kondwani Nankhumwa as overall vice President. Get Owen Chomanika as Secretary General and Noel Lipipa as spokesperson. There are hordes of women like Lonnie Chijere Chirwa, the Machinga East lady and others who can regenerate interest in the DPP.
End the era of Goodall Gondwe and Mzomera Ngwira in the North, Uladi Mussa in the Centre and people like Joseph Mwananvekha, George Chaponda, Ben Phiri, Henry Mussa and others in the South. Bring the fresh and clean people to the fore.
The DPP can only return if it ends its reign of Lhomweism and be shown to be a more Malawian party. Former President Peter Mutharika can protect his legacy by announcing his retirement from Politics. He can hold a few thank you rallies for his supporters, and bow off the stage.
He did not have energy to campaign, President Chakwera found him in parliament, this is an era of different type of politics. The DPP had the worst visibility, he promoted Mchacha who insulted women and appointed Chimulilenji and backed Ansah. He was the President who lost it, never listened to popular opinion and shunned the Central and Northern regions. These are what cost him the Presidency. He cannot blame anyone when all the writings were on the wall.
For DPP gurus, they are now paying for their sins and many will never return to public forums again, we say good riddance. For our democracy to thrive we still need the DPP, give chance to Msakas, Mkandawires, Nankhumwas, Chomanika, Lipipas to redefine and reshape the DPP as a modern opposition party. Bingu used to say it’s a rely race, APM and many others have done their part, its time for a brand new DPP. Dzuka DPP, Dzuka Malawi.

It is time for Mutharika the rigging President and thieving George Chaponda, to leave DPP, and let DPP elect its leader free of these 2 scavengers. For as we can all see on the free fertiliser to farmers, Tonse is failing, on fighting corruption Tonse is failing, on tribalism Tonse ion failing, on nepotism Tonse is failing, so you can rule out both Chakwera and SKC from winning in 2025 if DPP and UDF electronic leaders who are young, dynamic and offer leadership. So for God’s sake Mutharika, Chaponda and Atupele please leave your parties to select new leaders. For you are killing your parties. You are useless losers and hanging on like leeches sucking the blood out of your parties. And as for that so called political engineer Bakili Muluzi, King of Corruption its time he faces judgement in Court.
Food observations Mr author I see sense here if top follow this free advice definitely things can turn around
Nankhumwa has been pushed to a political corner on flimsy charges just to throw into oblivion. The contest for DPP presidency is going to be bruising first round elimination on Gresielda was a fiasco let’s hope that this academic strategy on Kondwani will work wonders. DPP is out to slit the throats of the salient figures. So DPP can humiliate embarrass anyone within its shot ask Soldier Lucius Banda. MCP must be gloating over he self killing DPP is employing on its functionaries. Treachery is abroad while ACB is on their trail. Self destruction is the crown on DPP
What I see this Tonse alliance will not survive 2025
DPP must play tooth to nail by bringing back chilima to a dinner table.
MCP is full of arrogant.
DPP will die a natural death. They party whose agenda was stealing public money should also be banned. They rigged elections through Jane Ansah. Let them go. Malawians wanted to do away with dpp. We are at peace now. Malawi has been effectively disinfected of nsikidzi. When one things of Bangwe 1, Ntopwa 1, Dausi, Mfiti Yayikazi, Ntaba, Kutsaira and many others it is chills all over the body.
2025 DPP will rule in Alliance with MCP. Whether one likes it or not. MCP needs a party in the south to win otherwise it is not a favourite in the south. It only won because of UTM. If the UTM in 2025 partners DPP, MCP has no chance and because MCP wants to stay in power it will go for DPP first. Apart from Chisale no one else will be properly charged and my fellow Malawians, we would have been outsmarted by politicians again.
Like dust we shall rise. DPP shall rule again. If it was not for the Hi5 corrupt judges, MCP wouldn’t have made it. Mark my words. And also the June 2020 elections were conducted and votes counted without DPP monitors in Central Region as they were chased from poling stations and hacked. Do you call that election free and fair? Kachale of MEC continued counting such controversial votes. MEC was heavily biased in the June elections. No wonder you put a parrot leader at State House.
Come 2025, we the DPP are getting back our government which was stolen by the appeasement judges and Kachale of MEC.
Muchira akulu, ngakhale mochedwa.
Seriously?🤣🤣I think you live in the past and can’t accept the now.
Sorry DPP sympathiser.
DPP WILL NEVER RULE THIS COUNTRY AGAIN AND NOT EVEN THE MAIN OPPOSITION PARTY AFTER THIS TERM.
Next time try to stick to one point. If you are trying to Sell your idea that DPP will cease on the surface of Malawi. BIG NO. God should give long life to witness this.
Palibe chosatha ngakhale Tonse naye idzatha very soon.
My beloved dpp please take heed of this free advice. Bingu said this is a game of relay race. The button must be passed on to new pair of hands. Chonde chonde take heed.
Wait and see how dpp will bounce back. Serious Division is coming between mcp and UTM.
no single party will win an election given the 50% plus one. Keep dreaming
Very true, had it not been for Chilima, MCP would not have been standing high nosed as a ruling party. I am singling out Chilima because it was not UTM as a party that brought the much needed votes to the alliance, rather it was Chilima as an individual who caught voters’ eyes to vote for the alliance.
DPP will never come back. Mark my words. When start moving in the right direction forget about dpp coming back. The list of bad things they did is long. Only Lomwes mattered to them yet this is a tribe that is almost extinct. You can hear speak other languages but not Lomwe. It was just arrogance and a divide and rule tactic. That’s the reason why they vehemently opposed electoral reforms and 50+1. You think with 50+1 and outside government they will make it? Unless Chakwera blunders like the way MCP blundered in 1983.
What did MCP do in 1983?
a tribalist. Pepa. Your life must be so painful. Life is short. Cheer up.
What DPP is lacking is leadership. If Na-Nkhumba is all we got then we are seriously doomed. I was very disappointed with his performance and line of questioning of The President. We do not send our representatives to Parliament to ‘ TAKE IT EASY”
DPP needs soul searching. Peter Mutharika is the worst president Malawi has ever had. He chose to give a deaf ear to those who had different views. How can a serious person choose Chimulirenji, as dull as he is to be second in command among the 18,000,000 + Malawians. My god, cry my DPP. Only the right people with clean hands will save the DPP, otherwise it is heading for the mortuary. Malawians who are voting today en-masse are not the ones who voted in 2014, neither will they be the ones who will vote in 2025. Mutharika and his leiutenants are in deep slumber when their party is falling apart. Perhaps it is like mother, like son, thus DPP dying in the same way UDF died, or DPP gurus simply want to be msamiro to AFORD. God forbid. If i were Peter Mutharika, i would have thrown in the white towel now to pave way for fresh minds to run the party. History has it that when a party in Malawi is relegated to the benches, it never comes back to fight as a force to reckon with.
My opinion stands dpp is strong and if it wasn’t for alliance sikanagwa.
Chilungamo kumanena.there will be another general election after 5 years let’s wait and see payekhapayekha mamuna azaoneke
Hate it or love it amene anavotera dpp made it win only gwirizano (9 parties) made it as it lost.
Dpp will bounce back soon than later
Munafa basi because of kuba zisankho with tippex. You have to blame yourselves. Khomo is closed for dpp.
Straight up
Wishful thinking ! DPP bouncing back ?
Zoona you are a ‘ NDOWA ‘ and not a Dowa boy.
DPP were not in alliance with UDF?That point of yours is out of order.Even MCP won it in MAY 21st 2019 on its own had it not Jane Ansah played her stupid hand method.
It will bounce back only if it comes out of a cacoon of the Southern Region. Apo bio it will never win
The Cacoon of southern region will join with the Cacoon of the central region to win this in 5 years time
Achotse kaye tsankho lokondera alomwe okha mumipando , corruption and kusasata malamulo adziko kutenga dziko ngati lawo okha
If MCP survived, DPP can survive. DPP is even better because they have strong characters. What they need now is a political strategy. Tonse alliance is easy to push down. MCP will never rule alone. It also need a political strategy. Based on this data; DPP and MCP, they need political strategy on UTM. Where UTM goes, government will go that side.
Don’t forget DPP was also in an electoral alliance of at least four parties including Depeco. Also remember that some of the nine parties that you mention are so tiny that their contributions to the Tonse victory was very very insignificant. Also don’t forget that it was clear that MEC helped Peter win in 2019 as reflected in the courts. So DPP does not necessarily have the capacity to win an election.
I have to agree. The likes of Meal a Mkandawire and Lipipa might bring a fresh perspective. However the party is not dead because it’s the illiterate people that vote. Unfortunately there are more than us and it’s really how they view the situation. it forces normal thinking people to pledge the most stupid things during campaign.
Not might not, but WILL NOT rule again. Mbuzi zimenezi zitha ngati makatani.
ingozinyongani because 2025 it’s back. Na 50 plus 1
Wishful comment
It may not be during your life time iwe mbiyazodowoka. But if MCP party of killers came back then any party in Malawi can come back. And all young idiots who voted for MCP hoping for change are now becoming dispirited with vain promises. A Malawi tulo, dziko lotembereredwa
