Motor vehicle dealers HTD Limited have committed to contribute towards girls’ education in Malawi.
This was disclosed on Friday in Blantyre at the newly-launched Abdul Majid Motor City where HTD donated a three-ton KIA truck, wheelbarrows, shovels and an office to First Lady Gertrude Mutharika’s Beautify Malawi (Beam) Trust.
HTD board member Javid Sidik said their company takes social responsibility seriously and since they have the same vision as Beam Trust, they thought it wise to enter into a partnership.
Sidik said HTD limited “will contribute towards girls’ education”, sating it also their area of interest.
The First Lady said she is “excited with the fact that HTD has shown interest in girls’ education, which is one of the areas of interest for Beam Trust. When girls are educated, they can make good choices.”
Mutharika expressed gratitude for the partnership and donation, saying the vehicle will help transport waste from dumping sites and visiting communities in sensitising them on waste management, sanitation and hygiene.
President Peter Mutharika officially launched the Abdul Majid Motor City building last Thursday.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
