Malawi daily newspapers  lose newsroom staff  to Bushiri: Times face more resignations, Nation journo hired as Prophet’s PR

Malawi two daily newspapers, The Nation and Daily Times have lost some of its newsroom staff to South Africa-based Malawian prophet Shepherd Bushiriand his Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) who has hired them for his television session and communication department.

Mmana leaves Times to be civil servant at Information Ministry

Times Group has suffered a ‘Tsunami’ of staff resignation which has seen  workers such Taufiq Chipinga , Snowden Kadzakumanja (photo-journalist) , Justice Kangulu, Ian Ndege  qutting to join Bushiri Rainbow TV.

Apart from those who have joined Bushiri TV, Times newsroom has lost sub editor Charles Mpaka and Deogratius Mmana, Lilongwe Bureau Chief.

Mmana has joined Ministry of Information as Deputy Director of Information.

Reporter Whyghtone Kapasule, has resigned and gone to study at Chancellor College.

Other resignations include  Stanley Mphaya  who has joined Story Workshop and Dorothy Matabwa, Deputy Human Resource Manager, has  also resigned.

Times Media refused to comment on the resignations, saying its normal in an organisation to lose staff.

They downplayed the resignations as “normal” and that the “fibre” of its editorial and management staff has not been shaken.

At Nation Publications Limited, Ephraim Nyondo has resigned and is joining Bushuri for public relations (PR) at ECG and  Shephered Bushiri Investments.

Nyondo will replace Kelvin Sulungwe who was relieved of his duties last year.

Sulugwe, a former Nyasa Times journalist, is now doing his business under  creative media company Kanopy Life.

Ka K685m komwe anakapeleka ku MRA kayamba kuwasaukitsa a Times. What kind of publicity does this Bushiri man want? Why is he always looking for publicity? Thiere is nothing like this in the men of God. This man is too showy. One day God will expose this fake prophet and people will know the true colours of the man. By God there is nothing godly in him.

Van u see that its Times News which reviews corruption in government. Bushiri can be paid to weaken The News TV. Another reason who leave and join Bushiri are weaker people its Malawians greedness. If u are normal why Bushiri? This man is thinking is to become president in Malawi and Malawians will give him that chance but they can not think of Chakwela who is educated. Malawians are fun people.
