Students from the country’s four public universities have agreed to have a public university students union to deal with the challenges the institutions face.
Silvester Ayuba James from Chancellor College said representatives of the four unions met at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources to strategise how best to form the umbrella union.
“We are meeting in June, probably this is when we will form the Public University Students Union which will deal with common problems facing all public universities,” he said.
The four public universities are Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Malawi University of Science and Technology, University of Malawi and Mzuzu University. In the wings is Mombera.
