Malawi Queens start training camp June 3 for Africa championship
Malawi Netball team popularly called the Queens will start preparations for Africa netball championship on June 3.
The tournament will be held in Malawi’s commercial capital, Blantyre from June 24-26.
Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) president Rose Chinunda said the 20-day preparations would enough to fine-tune the team for the tournament.
Chinunda said they had planned to start preparations for the tournament on May 10 but financial problems forced them to put it on hold.

“They delay was part of cutting expenses as recommended by Malawi National Council of Sports because we are going to feature two teams, the senior team and developmental side,” Chinunda said.
She also said the delay would not affect the players as most of them would be participating in the Gotv Netball Challenge.
“Most of the players for the two teams are selected from the teams that are participating in this competition. It is our hope that they should take the competition seriously to improve their match fitness,” she said.
In a related development, government started renovations of Blantyre Youth Centre.
The constructions work will see the reconstruction of two new courts at the centre.
