Malawi U-20 knocked out of Cosafa after draw with Uganda

End of the road! Malawi National Under 20 Football Team on Monday bowed out of the Mopani Copper Mines Cosafa Under 20 Championship 2017 edition currently under way in Zambia after they were forced to a one-all draw against ‘The Cranes’ of Uganda in a rough and exciting match played at the Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe-Zambia.

The Junior Flames played lungs out in a winner takes all much but equally faced stiff resistance from their opponents.

The game lived to its been billing and no wonder first half ended 0-0.

But it was the Junior Flames who were first to score in the second half through Francis Madinga.

However, Uganda broke the hearts of Flames players, technical panel and fans back home towards the end when they equalised late in the 81st minute.

This means that Uganda are through to the semifinals after finishing top of Group A with five points equal to the Junior Flames but the Cranes had a superior goal difference.

Hosts and defending champions Zambia are also out after finishing third with 4 points while Swaziland finished at the bottom of the table with a single point.

During this year’s tournament, the Junior Flames registered two wins and a single draw despite their emergency and improptu exit.

They managed to score four goals and conceded only two.

Malawi will never move an inch to taste glory with kids like these smoking hemp and pretending to fight for the country. Matama basi all these tumbuka united teams. Malawians can forget glory until these undernourished spoiled thengere kids so called under 20 reach the… Read more »
