Malawi’s Muslim Mufti will be missed: Abbas laid to rest
One of the Muslim leaders in the country, Mufti Abbas Qassim, who died on Wednesday was was laid to rest with on Thursday y after the afternoon prayer at Qassim village, Traditional Authority Chowe in Mangochi.

Thousands of mourners in Islamic regalia attended the funeral prayers to pay their last respects.
Qassim died on Wednesday at Mangochi District Hospital, until his death he was the supreme leader of the Council of Muslim Scholars and Sheikhs in Malawi hence he was the Mufti – a high position in the Islamic faith.
Mufti Abassi, who died at the age of 83, taught many sheiks and inspired many Muslims in the country including Mussa.
Muslim Association of Malawi spokesperson, Sheikh Dinala Chabulika said Qassim was “one of the big scholars as far as our Islamic religion is concerned.”.
Chabulika pointed out that he has contributed a lot to the growing of the Islamic religion in the country.
“We will miss him and there are a lot of things that we have learnt from him” he said.
The Mufti , is survived by two wives, children and grandchildren.
