Sibande beat off competition from John Chinseu and Eric Chapola after collecting 42 points to claim the men’s category. Chinseu  a massed  37 points to finish second while Chapola bagged in 35 points to claim the third position.

Mbilizi on the other hand saw of competition from Connie Kaluku and Bose Kamphulusa to win the ladies category. The handcap 10 lady golfer collected 34 points while Kaluku and Kamphulusa bagged in 27 and 23 points respectively.

Speaking after receiving their prizes, both Sibande and Mbilizi were short of words to describe their victories.

“Am very excited to win this competition. When I was coming to play, I had one thing in mind, to finish with over 45 points. I thought reaching that mark would put me in a great position to win.

“However, I didn’t start very well but later managed to produce winning performances to be on the driving sit. This was on my return and my playing partners too gave me good competition which really motivated me,” said Sibande.

For her part, Mbilizi said she had less competition but nevertheless was happy for coming out top.

“There were only 8 ladies at this competition.  I guess this was because of another competition at Blantyre Sports club. However am happy because winning is something that every golfer would like to enjoy. I had a burdy at some point which gave me advantage to claim the top prize,” said Mbilizi.

During the tournament, FDH had time to introduce their new product called “one click” which is an electronic bulk payment system.

And speaking to reporters after the prize presentation, the Bank’s Senior Relations Manager Zacharia Hara said one click is an easy way of making payments.

“This is a seamless electronic bulk payment solution tailored to cater for all forms of payments to multiple beneficiaries at the click of a button and thus save time and effort,” said Hara.

Meanwhile, the bank has promised to stage another tournament in Lilongwe on 1 July this year with another one on the pipeline earmarked for Mzuzu customers.
