MCP mourn former MP Alexander Jumbe, dies in UK
Tributes have been paid to former member of Parliament (MP) for Dedza North Alexander Nelson Jumbe who has died at the age of 75.
Jumbe served as Malawi Congress Party (MCP) legislators for Dedza North for a period of 10 years.
He died on Christmas Day – December 25 2017, in Nottingham UK after an illness which he was hospitalised.
Family spokesperson says the body will be repatriated to Malawi.
Meanwhile, MCP president Lazarus Chakwera has said he is “deeply saddened” to hear the news of Jumbe’s demise.
He described Jumbe as a man of “deep principle” and the best Parliamentary debater of his generation.
Chakwera said: “ Nelson Jumber was a one of the most eloquent, most humorous, speakers in Parliament.”
He said the former MP was “compassionate and dedicated to his country.”
Jumbe is survived by seven children and 17 grandchildren.
He was a humble man, a long time church elder at Dzenza/Kalambo CCAP, area 25. May his soul rest in peace.
