Minister Navicha hails women for conducting peaceful pro-Ansah march

Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare, Mary Navicha has praised hundreds of women who attended pro- Jane Ansah solidarity walk in Blantyre on Wednesday for being peaceful during the march that started from Old Town Hall to Blantyre City Council (BCC).

The pro- Ansah demo , women marchers recognise Tippex is an issue

Ansah is facing calls to resign from some section of the country for mismanaging the May 21 elections.

The march was organised to support her and a gender card was shown to indicate that calls for Ansah resign are being made because she is a woman.

The Minister said women have done a peaceful demonstration  knowing that violence has the potential to destroy the country.

“I know how painful it feels to remain calm while hate and violence attack our fellow woman, Jane Ansah. I know how painful it feels to remain calm and watch while others call women several insulting names.

“But I also know how proud it feels to withstand temptations of evil and stand up to your principles. I know how good it feels to be victorious in the end. Time has ended for civil society organization leaders and other politicians to take women for granted,” said Navicha.

The Minister re-iterated that the women march had nothing to do with politics but rather to protect their fellow woman who is being victimized for doing her work in the just ended May, 2019 tripartite elections

She added: “Thanks to Forum for Concerned Women for conducting the march. As women of Malawi, we know that those calling for Dr Jane Ansah’s resignation are doing so because she is a woman.

Seodi White, Chairperson for Forum for concerned women said the grouping has fulfilled its aim and expects peace to prevail in the country at all cost saying harassment towards Dr Jane Ansah and all Malawian women must stop forthwith.

White said as a human rights activist, she will not allow any woman to suffer at the expense of being a woman adding it is worrisome that some people with evil minds are slowly taking back this country where it was experiencing a lot of gender based violence cases.

One of the women who attended the march, Elizabeth Gama from Phalombe said she was happy to be among several women who marched to fight for the rights of a fellow woman.

“When I heard about the march, I couldn’t resist but to join fellow women. Women are experiencing several gender based violence in the country. It is time for us to stand up,” she said.

It is really sad that this is the calibre of person with the portfolio of Minister of Gender, saaaaaaad!! Try to ask her what Gender means; to her Gender means Woman. Malawi will never develop with these kinds of appointment of uneducated idiots in high positions based on tribe and political afiliation…. Cry my beloved country

99.9 % or more of the feminine gender in the world (and I hope in the other world) is inferior. Inferior to the other gender. 99.9% of tippex in the world is used by females but made by the other gender. NATURE made it. Keep on marching. Maybe NATURE will listen.

Why should Tippex and elections be in the same sentence? Maybe Jane Ansah would know and if she was a man, surely she still would be answerable regardless of gender.

The only difference is that your demo is a paid one and aimed at counter-attacking the much touted national wide demos resulting from the injustice done by MEC to facilitate rigging in favor of one player. Know that the conduct of ur fellow woman cant be tolerated and entertained in any democratic dispensation. The injustice done by her is visibly seen and the pple cant wait for the courts to judge her conduct, never.
