NICO Asset Managers Launches ‘Offshore Investment Offering’ Product

NICO Asset Managers, a subsidiary of NICO Holdings Plc, in partnership with Sanlam Private Wealth from Mauritius, Cape Town, and London, has launched a new product called Offshore Investment Offering. This initiative is tailored to provide high-net-worth clients with stability, asset protection, and sustainable growth in the global market.

Speaking during the official launch of the partnership at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, NICO Holdings Limited Managing Director, Vizenge Kumwenda, emphasized the need for clients to expand their investment opportunities, as the initiative engages markets across the world.

“Investments are inherently risky by nature, and there are different paths to navigating them. However, the process involved is where the credibility of your partners comes in. In our case, we are partnering with Sanlam, one of the top institutions in Africa. Besides that, they are also our shareholders, so we are working with a credible partner,” said Kumwenda.

Kumwenda further assured Malawians that the partnership would ensure that all clients are provided with investment opportunities that offer high returns and minimal risks.

“This is the best way for Malawi to be part of the global investment market, and in the process, the country will experience economic growth,” added Kumwenda.

Mark Muller, Head of International Business for Sanlam Private Wealth, stated that partnering with NICO Asset Managers will help Malawians diversify their portfolios through offshore investments and facilitate access to global markets.

“If Malawians are holding significant portions of their portfolios in local currency, it is crucial to diversify for several reasons. Hard currency tends to maintain its value and provides access to some of the best global investment opportunities,” said Muller.

He also emphasized that through this partnership, NICO Asset Managers’ clients will have access to global markets, increasing their investment growth potential.

Chief Executive Officer for NICO Asset Managers, Daniel Dunga, highlighted the importance of the platform, as it will allow clients to connect with major companies worldwide.

Dunga differentiated this initiative from foreign direct investment, clarifying that foreign direct investment involves companies from outside the country investing in Malawi, while offshore investments allow Malawians to access international markets.

Sanlam Private Wealth operates in 31 countries and serves 69 million clients across Africa. The company, which started in 2018, has a presence in Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mauritius, South Africa, Namibia, and several other African nations.
